Don Edwards Coyote is named after the American cowboy singer and songwriter Don Edwards. He is a stuffed coyote that was found in the Lassen County Fairgrounds in California in the late 1970s. Don Edwards Coyote has since become a popular icon and mascot for the Burning Man Festival, an annual event held in the Black Rock Desert of Nevada. The coyote is often seen in various locations around the festival, and has even been known to "steal" items from attendees' campsites. Don Edwards Coyote has also been known to spark controversy, as some believe it promotes negative stereotypes of coyotes and encourages irresponsible behavior around wildlife.
